WINNER OF CARL PRISEN 2021 - POP COMPOSER OF THE YEAR
Niels Christian Sommer has slowly, but steadily, been carving his own path in the Danish music industry. Often working behind the scenes, he has written and produced for a variety of artists, most notably his labelmates in Ganger, for which he received a Steppeulven-nomination as Producer Of The Year 2021 and won Carl Prisens Pop Composer of The Year, along with Thomas Bach Skaarup and Anders Boll.
His debut EP as SUMMERS, “Easy”, was released on Yachtvej in the fall of 2020 and lead single, “Die Young” received lots of praise and airplay on Danish radio (P6 Beat). Check out the video below, as well as the stunning opener “Easy”.
He also made a proper debut as a live-act during Ganger’s fall tour of 2020, where he opened the shows sometimes solo, sometimes with a small band.
This son of a preacher man, born and raised on the west coast of Denmark in a small community, has consistently lent his talent to other aspiring artists, often carried by his gentle demeanor and wicked humor. He is one of those polyglot multi-instrumental goblins lurking in the shadows of our studio, always ready with a hook or a slick production. He has become a cornerstone of the sound we’re trying to define and shape and make our own here at Yachtvej.
He is currently working on his first full length album, as well writing and producing for other upcoming Yachtvej-artists and a variety of other projects.
